A hot nodule 5% is one that takes up isotope while the surrounding tissue does not. Here the surrounding tissue is inactive due to TSH suppression as a result of excess thyroid hormone.
A warm nodule 10 % takes up isotopes along with normal thyroid tissue
A cold nodule 80 % is one where there is no isotope uptake.
