Line of demarcation

Zone of demarcation between viable and gangrenous indicated by band of hyperemia and hyperesthesia on the surface and separation is achieved by a layer of grantlation tissue.
In dry gangrene, the line of demarcation appears in a matter of days without infection and this is called "separation by aseptic ulceration "
In wet gangrene, the line of demarcation is more proximal than dry gangrene and the process is called "separation by septic ulceration"
